Hi, I’m Jackie, the gem geek (aka gemologist) behind Azonomy, a gem shop and blog.
I sell single and small bundles of gemstones where the gems you see in the photos, are the gems you get. I feel it’s important that you know exactly what you’re buying, especially as most of the gems I sell are pre-owned!
The gem blog I write (Know Your Gemstones) is where I get to share my passion for gemstone knowledge. I try to cover a wide range of gem related topics, from ancient mythology to the science of gemstone identification and all things in between, so check back regularly to see what else I’ve added.
A bit about my journey:
I’m sure I’m not the only one who has a bit of magpie in them, loving the colours and sparkle of gemstones. I’ve adored them for as long as I can remember, but it never crossed my mind when I was little that I could make gems my career. Roll on a *ahem* few years and I taught myself how to make jewellery, which I absolutely love (and still do as a hobby), but it still didn’t quite scratch that gemstone itch I had burning inside me. There was nothing else for it, I had to go back to school, train to be a gemologist and turn gemstones into my life!
Now I get to spend my days completely immersed in the world of gemstones. Admiring and identifying them, so they’re ready to be paired with your creativity, and researching gems so I can write about them.
As well as gemstones, I also love the plant, we all live here after all. Which is why I decided to focus on pre-owned gemstones. I do stock some gems that are ‘new’ so I can ensure I have a good variety of stock available for you, but the majority of the gems I sell are starting out on a second life.
These wonderful gifts from mother nature still have so much more to give! They don’t need to go off to landfill just because they’ve been in a piece of jewellery before, or have been waiting for a jeweller to use them who has since retired. By choosing pre-owned gems you’re supporting an eco-friendly practice that helps reduce waste and conserve the planets resources. 💚

Jackie – Gemmologist
Hi, I’m Jackie, a UK based gemmologist with a passion for the environment. I specialise in pre-owned gemstones that have been removed from old jewellery by scrap metal companies, cleaning and identifying them so you can use them in your creations.
Rob – Assistant
Rob is my hubby & although he isn’t a gemologist, Azonomy wouldn’t exist without him. He helps out with lots of behind the scenes jobs, most noticeably proof reading my copy, the postal runs and keeping me fueled with coffee!
